Calling All Non-Commercial Chefs, Dietitians, Foodservice Managers & Directors!
Submit a recipe featuring Pacific Northwest Canned Bartlett Pears in any of these categories – beverage, breakfast, salads/sides, entrees, dessert – for a chance to win cash prizes.
Who can enter the contest? Non-commercial Chefs, Registered Dieticians, foodservice managers and directors employed in non-commercial foodservice operations who are 21 years or older and a legal resident of the United States are eligible to participate. Employees of the Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service, the Washington State Fruit Commission, their affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and the panel of judges and immediate families and household members of each are not eligible to enter. Contest is void where prohibited.
How to enter the contest? No purchase necessary. To enter, submit [in English] an original recipe appropriate for use on foodservice menus. Recipes must (1) use at least 2 cups diced or sliced canned pears or 8 pear halves per every 8 servings; (2) list exact ingredient quantities in order of use, followed by complete preparation directions in paragraph form (including pan sizes, cooking time, chilling time, etc.), and number of servings; (3) be accompanied by a digital photo of the plated recipe/dish. All entries must be the original recipe of the entrant and must not have been entered in any other contest and must not infringe any third-party rights. You may enter as many recipes as you wish, but each recipe must entered on a separate form. All entries must include the entrant's name, title, place of employment, address, daytime phone number, email, and category of recipe.

How will the recipes be judged? A panel of individuals who work in the foodservice industry will judge the recipes. Only recipes using Pacific Northwest Canned Pears will be considered. Recipes without a category designation will be disqualified. Recipes will be judged on the following criteria: 25% use of canned pears as an integral part of the recipe, 25% foodservice menu fit, 25% appetite appeal, and 25% creativity/originality. The entries with the highest overall scores win cash prizes. Chances of winning are determined by the total number of eligible entries received. By participating, entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding. Limit one prize per person/family/household.
What are the prizes? Three Cash Prizes: 1st prize: $2,000; 2nd prize: $1,000; 3rd prize: $500. All prizes will be awarded provided a sufficient number of eligible entries are received. Prizes are non-transferable. All taxes on cash prizes are winner's sole responsibility. The PNCPS will submit any required tax reporting forms to the Internal Revenue Service.
The first 25 people who submit a valid entry will each receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
What is the deadline for entering? Contest begins on July 1, 2017 and ends on November 30, 2017. All entries must be received by EOD (5pm) November 30. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected or incomplete entries. Entries cannot be acknowledged or returned.
Additional terms: All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Submission of an entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation, for commercial or non-commercial use, and without additional consideration to the entrant. Submission of any entry further constitutes the entrant's consent to irrevocably assign and transfer to the sponsor any and all rights, title and interest in the entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights.
When will winners be notified? Winners will be notified by phone on or about December 18, 2017. Except where prohibited, acceptance of prize constitutes winner's consent to the use of his/her name, likeness and biographical information, for publicity purposes, without limitation and additional compensation. By the accepting prize, the winner further agrees that the Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service, and/or its related companies and its directors, employees, agents and advertising and promotion agencies are not liable for any injury, damage, liability, expense, accident, delay, irregularity, loss or claim arising from or in connection with acceptance, possession or use of the prize, and acknowledges that none of said parties have made or are in any manner responsible for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, relative to any prize, including without limitation, its quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Winners will be required to sign and return a recipe release within 21 days of prize notification or prize will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate winner. If prize notification or any prize is returned as undeliverable, the corresponding prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
