COOKING GETS KIDS IN TOUCH WITH WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS

Children learn by touching, tasting, feeling, smelling, and listening. They love to help prepare food and cook because they can use all their senses. Even better, they like to eat the foods they make. When planning menus, always remember to consider the age of the child/children.

Important Points To Remember
  • Help children wash their hands before cooking.
  • Announce they must wait until the dish is done before sampling.
  • Expect spills and messes.
  • Give children quick, simple jobs, and instructions one at a time.
  • Repeat directions as often as needed.
  • Remember young cooks need constant supervision.
  • Assign children jobs to help with cleanup.
