The Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service (PNCPS) was organized in July 1996 and grew from the combination of several other pear industry organizations that date back to 1954. PNCPS represents over 1,400 Bartlett pear growers in Washington and Oregon, and five Northwest Bartlett pear processors. The organization is funded by handlers who are assessed at a certain rate per ton of pears produced.

The primary function of the Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service is to provide information to retail and foodservice customers about canned pears. Through public relations and other marketing activities, the PNCPS provides canned pear users with convenient, innovative recipes, nutrition and pack information, and other relevant material. The programs of the PNCPS keep the press and every customer segment informed about this popular canned fruit.
